Public concern continues to grow over the delay in delivering justice in the murder of Osman Hadi. Even after more than 100 days have passed, there has been no visible progress in this widely discussed case, leading to increasing frustration and disappointment among citizens. The interim government’s promise to complete the trial within 90 days now appears unfulfilled, raising serious questions about both commitment and accountability.
Firstly, administrative negligence stands out as a key factor behind the delay. In a case of such significance, investigation demands speed, efficiency, and transparency. However, the reality reflects a slow-moving process and a clear lack of coordination among the responsible agencies. This pattern of inefficiency began during the interim government’s tenure and has continued under the current administration.
Secondly, the absence of political will has further deepened the crisis. With the formation of the new government, people had expected renewed momentum in the judicial process and swift action against those responsible. Instead, there has been little to no visible initiative, and the issue appears to be gradually fading from priority an indication of governmental indifference.
Thirdly, serious concerns remain regarding the transparency of the investigation. To date, there has been no clear disclosure of who was directly involved, who financed the crime, and who masterminded it. Such delays in revealing critical information have fuelled public suspicion. Many believe that the involvement of influential actors may be obstructing the progress of the investigation.
Furthermore, the current government, which emerged through the continuity of the interim administration, cannot evade responsibility. Its failure to uphold earlier commitments has only prolonged the crisis. In a democratic system, accountability to the people is essential, yet in this case, it appears to be largely absent.
The delay in justice for Osman Hadi’s murder strongly reflects the negligence of both the interim and current governments. This prolonged inaction not only hinders justice in a single case but also undermines public trust in the broader judicial system.
The time has come for the government to ensure a swift, transparent, and impartial investigation, bringing all those responsible to justice. Otherwise, this culture of impunity will continue to deepen posing a serious threat to both the rule of law and public confidence.
